"So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. "

2 Thessalonians 2:15

Daily Meditation

Tuesday 8th July 2008

It is wonderful to be able to enjoy the teachings that the apostles, particularly Paul, have left for us. Every day we can receive guidance for our Christian walk by reading the letters that Paul sent to the different churches around the first centry A.D.

Some of Paul's teaching for the churches however was not written down but spoken to the churches as individuals as this passage implies. This teaching remained with the individuals or churches of the time but has not been communicated to us. Likewise we will also receive guidance and teaching that is for us as individuals or as a church. We would do well to hold onto the teaching that we receive from our leaders; to stand firm and hold onto them.

Rivers of Life Churches

Rivers of Life churches are evangelical and charismatic. The Oxford church meets one mile from the city centre in Marston. We have grown out of the Rivers of Life family of churches, formed in about 1965. We are English speaking congregations but have a strong Latin input and we have many Spanish speaking churches. There are two Rivers of Life churches in the UK – one in Oxford and the other in Bangor, North Wales, and about 80 other churches around the world.

Our beliefs in practice

We believe that God adds to the church as it follows the same principles and practices as the early church did in the Acts of the Apostles. We believe passionately that Jesus’ people live to glorify Him in praise and worship, to be formed into His loving family and to pray for and reach out to the world around. Our meetings are in the style of the early church with everyone participating in Bible reading, prayer, praise and worship. with raising of hands, dancing, singing in the spirit, etc. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance. Why not pay us a visit?
