Daily meditation - Friday 18th of April 2008

"My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples." "

Psalms 108 :1-3

Sing to the Lord this morning, here is why:
musical notes church

- It is clearly stated in the bible that David (who had a right heart) sung daily and rejoiced in the Lord a lot. He expressed himself with songs when he was: upset, depressed, repentful and happy, he praised the Lord all the same.

The enemy (in this case Saul) could take David's family, freinds and comforts away and even force him to live far from the tabernacle but they could not take away his song. This was dericted to God. It was in songs (or Psalms) that David expressed himself before the Lord even in a deep dark cave, and the Lord was listening in.

- The righteous kings of Israel went out to battle singing praises and they occasionally did not have to fight because the Lord made them victorious in praise.

Sing a new song to the Lord from the heart. As the Lord listened to David he listens to you also!

If you don't sing in tune don't worry; God looks at the heart not the tone!

Rivers of Life Churches

Rivers of Life churches are evangelical and charismatic. The Oxford church meets one mile from the city centre in Marston. We have grown out of the Rivers of Life family of churches, formed in about 1965. We are English speaking congregations but have a strong Latin input and we have many Spanish speaking churches. There are two Rivers of Life churches in the UK – one in Oxford and the other in Bangor, North Wales, and about 80 other churches around the world.

Our beliefs in practice

We believe that God adds to the church as it follows the same principles and practices as the early church did in the Acts of the Apostles. We believe passionately that Jesus’ people live to glorify Him in praise and worship, to be formed into His loving family and to pray for and reach out to the world around. Our meetings are in the style of the early church with everyone participating in Bible reading, prayer, praise and worship. with raising of hands, dancing, singing in the spirit, etc. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance. Why not pay us a visit?
