"And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh Barnea, he said, "Go up and take possession of the land I have given you." But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You did not trust him or obey him. 24 You have been rebellious against the LORD ever since I have known you. "

Deutoronomy 9:23-24

This is so amazing. The people of Israel had the oportunity to take hold of a land flowing with milk and honey, a fertile land and prospurous place. Instead of taking to the Land of milk and honeychallenge they stepped down and rebeled against the Lord! They even lowered to their sinfull desires and made an image of an animal for a God, one just like Paul spoke of in Romans 1:18-32.

David is another example of not going out against challenges God places in front of us. He was supposed to be at war but instead he stayed home, and he fell... So many times we can shun from taking on Gods challenge.  God intends these situations to proppell us forwards, take us to a wonderfull place where we can rejoice (a land of milk and honey) and to protect us of the dangers of not moving forwards. Paul used the metaphor of our lives being a race, if your standing still you better watch out and start running towards the goal again!

Rivers of Life Churches

Rivers of Life churches are evangelical and charismatic. The Oxford church meets one mile from the city centre in Marston. We have grown out of the Rivers of Life family of churches, formed in about 1965. We are English speaking congregations but have a strong Latin input and we have many Spanish speaking churches. There are two Rivers of Life churches in the UK – one in Oxford and the other in Bangor, North Wales, and about 80 other churches around the world.

Our beliefs in practice

We believe that God adds to the church as it follows the same principles and practices as the early church did in the Acts of the Apostles. We believe passionately that Jesus’ people live to glorify Him in praise and worship, to be formed into His loving family and to pray for and reach out to the world around. Our meetings are in the style of the early church with everyone participating in Bible reading, prayer, praise and worship. with raising of hands, dancing, singing in the spirit, etc. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance. Why not pay us a visit?
